Since the Summer of 2015, the Town Council and various Utility Boards have been working on Water, Storm, Sanitary and Solid Waste fees and long term capital projects. The last rate increases for Water, Storm and Sanitary were in 2010. The Town council has received the commendations of the various utility boards. The recommended increases are as follows:

· Water – 13.5% overall increase

· Sanitary – 4.0% overall increase

· Stormwater – Increase of $7.76 per ERU unit

· Solid Waste – Increase of $2.46 ($2.00 local increase + $0.46 contract cost increase)

A couple examples are provided below that demonstrate the increase to expect based upon gallons of water consumption.

A household that uses 5,000 gallons of water consumption per month will see an increase of 16.3%. Their monthly utility service bill will increase from $97.43 to $113.28.

A household that uses 10,000 gallons of water consumption per month will see an increase of 13.6%. Their overall bill will increase from $146.20 to $166.14.

The Town Council had the first reading of the Ordinance on Monday, November 21st. The public hearing and 2nd reading is scheduled for December 8th at 6pm at the Town Hall. The rate increases described are subject to modification pending the Town Council decision.
